Patty
came from Kansas to visit over Thanksgiving, and we started our adventure
from the dark recesses of the Pelham Parkway number five station as
we almost always do. Not a very crowded place Thanksgiving morning.
|
|
|
|
The
real objective of our day's adventure was the Macy's Thanksgiving day
parade. We were a little late, but at least we didn't miss Barney.

Clifford
the big red dog made an appearance too.

Sue
and Patty were actually frozen in this position after watching the parade.

The
Flatiron building is also not the Empire state building, but it is recognized
as the first skyscrapper in Manhattan.

The
World Trade towers and several other buildings that are definitely not
the Empire State building.

The
statue of liberty is not even a building, and therefore very unlikely
to be confused with the Empire State.

There are always a million things to watch down below.

After
dinner at a French restaurant just a little further up the street we
went to see Suessical the Musical.

The
next day it was raining, so we went to the Enid Haupt Conservatory of
the New York Botanical gardens
|
|
The
Botanical gardens were also decked out for the holidays, including a huge
network of model railways (all constructed of wood chips and what appeared
to be yard waste) that ran through several rooms of the conservatory and
included little models of famous NYC buildings and landmarks
